common questions
How early should we plan IT for a move?
As early as possible. Business internet can take weeks to install, so planning should start as soon as the lease is signed.
Can we keep our phone numbers?
In most cases, yes. VoIP numbers can move with you, and traditional numbers can usually be ported.
Do you handle cabling?
No. Finch Computers works remotely only. We design the network and give your cabling contractor clear specifications, then configure and test the equipment remotely.
How do we keep the network secure in a new office?
Plan it from the start. A new office setup is the right time to apply the Canadian Centre for Cyber Security’s baseline controls for small and medium organizations: a business grade firewall, separate guest Wi-Fi, updated equipment and documented passwords. We design all of that before moving day.
What should we do the week before the move?
Confirm the internet installation date, check that phone numbers are ready to port, back up every computer and server, and label equipment by desk. We provide a checklist and walk your team through it, so moving day is about unpacking, not troubleshooting.
